CONFIDENTIAL — NORTHWRKS
High-Security Corporate Headquarters

Halo Executive Campus

A corporate environment requiring advanced security without compromising usability, collaboration, or workplace experience.

01

Initial Condition

The organization required a headquarters supporting sensitive operations alongside standard corporate functions, including client meetings, general staff work, and executive activity.

02

Existing Architecture

Security measures had previously been added on top of a conventional office layout, through access cards, guards, and signage, rather than through the layout itself.

03

System Exposure

Layered procedural security created friction for staff while still leaving some sensitive areas reachable through general office circulation.

  • Sensitive areas were positioned along general staff and visitor routes
  • Security depended heavily on access card discipline
  • The workplace experience suffered from visible, procedural security
04

Design Position

The objective was to make security a natural feature of the layout, so that it functions without dominating the day-to-day workplace experience.

05

Design Approach

Three requirements guided the redesign:

  • Sensitive functions positioned away from general circulation
  • Access control integrated into the layout rather than added visibly on top of it
  • Collaborative and public-facing areas kept open and welcoming
06

Architectural Intervention

The campus was reorganized to separate sensitive and general-use areas naturally.

Sensitive Area Placement

Executive and sensitive operational functions were relocated away from general staff and visitor routes.

Integrated Access Control

Access transitions were built into the architecture itself, reducing reliance on visible security infrastructure.

Open Collaborative Zones

General work and client-facing areas were kept open and unrestricted, preserving a welcoming workplace experience.

07

Resulting Environment

Security now functions as part of the building rather than as a visible layer on top of it. Staff and visitors experience an open, collaborative workplace, while sensitive functions remain protected by the layout.

08

Outcome

  • Sensitive areas are separated from general circulation
  • Security is integrated into the architecture rather than layered on top
  • Workplace experience remains open and collaborative
Result

Security integrated into the architecture, supporting both protection and workplace experience.

09

Northwrks Position

Security and workplace experience do not need to compete. When security is built into the layout, it can operate without becoming the dominant feature of daily working life.

10

Engagement Context

Projects of this type require balancing security requirements with workplace design, integrating access control naturally into corporate environments.
