CONFIDENTIAL — NORTHWRKS
Resilient Operations Facility

Eclipse Continuity Centre

A critical operations environment designed to maintain performance during complex physical and operational challenges.

01

Initial Condition

The facility supported continuous critical operations that needed to continue functioning even when multiple types of disruption occurred at the same time.

02

Existing Architecture

Individual disruption scenarios, such as a system fault or a physical access issue, had been planned for separately. The facility had not been evaluated against combined, simultaneous disruption.

03

System Exposure

Planning for isolated scenarios left gaps when more than one type of disruption occurred together.

  • Continuity plans addressed single-cause disruption only
  • Zoning did not account for combined physical and operational stress
  • Recovery pathways were not tested against overlapping conditions
04

Design Position

The objective was to design the facility around combined disruption conditions, rather than isolated single-cause scenarios.

05

Design Approach

Three requirements guided the redesign:

  • Zoning that accounts for multiple concurrent disruption types
  • Access systems that remain functional under partial degradation
  • Recovery pathways tested against combined stress conditions
06

Architectural Intervention

The facility was reorganized around resilience under combined conditions.

Multi-Condition Zoning

Spatial zones were restructured to remain functional even when more than one type of disruption occurs at the same time.

Degraded-Mode Access

Access systems were designed to continue functioning under partial degradation, rather than depending on full normal operation.

Combined Scenario Testing

Recovery pathways were reviewed against combined physical and operational stress conditions, not just individual failure scenarios.

07

Resulting Environment

The facility now maintains operation under combined disruption conditions that were not previously part of its design basis. Recovery pathways function even when more than one type of disruption occurs together.

08

Outcome

  • The facility remains functional under combined disruption scenarios
  • Access systems continue operating under partial degradation
  • Recovery pathways have been tested against overlapping conditions
Result

Continuity preserved through resilient planning for combined disruption conditions.

09

Northwrks Position

Real disruption rarely arrives as a single, isolated event. Facilities designed only for individual scenarios are less prepared than they appear.

10

Engagement Context

Projects of this type require resilience planning against combined disruption scenarios, not only single-cause failure modes.

Continuity maintained under combined, real-world disruption.
